The Faculty of Graduate Studies awarded the researcher Ghareeb Issa a Master’s Degree in Arabic Language & Literature in response to his thesis entitled “Dualism Life and Death in the Poetry of Abu Al-Tayip Al-Mutanabi”.

This study aims to figure out and illustrate the duality of life and death in Abu At-Tayyeb Al -Mutannabi's poetry using the analytic and interrogative styles. In fact, Al-Mutannabi had extensively addressed, fathomed and philosophized this duality in his poetry to be harmonious with his logic and his ambitious and rebellious self.

This study consists of an introduction, a preface, two chapters and a conclusion.
In the introduction, the researcher discusses the topic, methodology, contents, significance, references and sources of the study. However, in the preface, the researcher briefly focuses on the issue of life and death up to the Abbasid period highlighting the prevalent mythological and traditional beliefs in the earlier times.
In the first chapter, the concepts of life and death in Al -Mutannabi's poetry are extensively illustrated together with his point of view of certain topics closely associated with life and death.
In the second chapter, the researcher addresses the features of death in Al -Mutannabi's poetry, especially, when the poet talks about age, sickness, grey hair and separation, which had psychologically affected the poet.
In the conclusion, the researcher concludes the main findings of the study.
The committee consisted of: Dr. Abdel Khaleq Issa as a main supervisor and Chairman, Prof. Ali Amr as an external examiner and Dr. Raed Abdel Rahim as an internal examiner.
