The Faculty of Graduate Studies awarded the researcher Abdel Rahman Odeh a Master’s Degree in Clean Energy and Conservation Strategy in response to his thesis entitled “Techno-economic Evaluation of Intelligent Energy Management Systems in Industrial Sectors in Hebron District”.
The study of effect of implementation Energy Management System (EnMS) requirements was carried out for three case studies from industrial sector in West Bank, it was shown how far is the industrial facilities from getting ISO50001 certification.
Implementing of EnMS requirements in both sides; management and technical will lead to energy saving opportunities of about 65.3MWh/yr., 441.1MWh/yr. and 312.2MWh/yr. from Royal Company, Siniora Company and Jerusalem Pharmaceutical Company respectively.
In addition, it was found that annual saving from applying EnMS requirements at 12 industrial facilities was about 5.711GWh/yr. which equal to 3.427million NIS/yr., while the cost of implementing EnMS is about 2.49million NIS.
The energy saving from EnMS implementation will lead to reduce the GHGs emissions in the atmosphere. In addition, it was found that annual reductions in GHGs from applying EnMS requirement in the 12 industrial facilities was about 2265.34Ton/yr. of CO2, 3.319Ton/yr. of SO2 and 4.269Ton/yr. of NOx.
The committee consisted of: Dr. Imad Breik as a main supervisor and Chairman, Dr. Sameh AlSaedi as an external examiner and Dr. Abdel Rahim Abu Safa as an internal examiner.
At the end of the session, the committee approved the success of the researcher and recommended him a Master’s degree.
