The Faculty of Graduate Studies awarded the researcher Hadeel Odeh a Master’s Degree in Methods of Teaching Science in response to her thesis entitled “The Effect of using “Crocodile Chemistry” Computerized Program in Modifying the Alternative Chemical Concepts and Academic Self-Concept among the Higher Primary School Students in the Directorate of Education – South Nablus”.

This study aimed at investigating the effect of using "Crocodile Chemistry" Computerized  Program in Modifying the Alternative Chemical Concepts and Academic Self-Concept among the Higher Primary School Students in the Directorate of Education-South Nablus. In order to achieve the objective of the study, the researcher prepared and designed educational activities using the computerized program of the chemical compounds unit from the seventh grade science book. The researcher tested the alternative chemical concepts, consisting of (30) paragraphs of multiple choice questions, verified its validity and stability, and the stability coefficient was (0.82), the researcher prepared a measure of academic self-concept, the measure consisted of (32) paragraphs, verified its validity and stability and the stability coefficient was (0.87).
The sample of the study consisted of (68) students of the seventh grade in the primary school for boys in Hewara during the second semester of the academic year 2016/2017, and the sample was randomly distributed to two groups: a control group consists of (34) students, studied using normal way. An Experimental group, studied using Crocodile Chemistry. The researcher used the appropriate statistical methods to the nature of the study to analyze the results such as: arithmetical mean and standard deviation, and used the ANCOVA analysis to identify the differences in the modification of the alternative chemical concepts and academic self concept among the students.
The results of the study showed that there was a statistically significant difference (α = 0.05) between the average scores of the two groups of study (experimental and control) due to the method of teaching and for the experimental group. As the results of the study showed that there was a statistically significant difference (α = 0.05) between the median responses of the two groups of the study (experimental, control) due to the teaching method and for the experimental group. In the light of the previous results, the researcher recommended several points, the most important was the awareness of the teachers about the importance of using computerized programs and encouraging them to use them in teaching, and suggested many points, the most important was to provide the infrastructure to keep pace with technological development and benefit from it in developing the education.
The committee consisted of: Dr. Mahmoud Shamali as a main supervisor and Chairman, Dr. Belal Abu Eideh as a second supervisor, Dr. Raja Sweidan as an external examiner and Dr. AbdelGhani Seifi as an internal examiner.
At the end of the session, the committee approved the success of the researcher and recommended her a Master’s degree.
