The Faculty of Graduate Studies awarded the researcher Iman Hendi a Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Teaching Methods in response to her thesis entitled “The impact of the teaching by mathematical communication strategy on achievement and motivation toward learning mathematics among basic fourth grade students in Nablus governorate”.
This study aimed at exploring the effect of teaching by mathematical communication strategyon achievement toward learning mathematics among basic fourth grade students in Nablus governorate.
The study sample consisted of (48) fourth grade girl students who are separated into (2) groups, the control group (24) students, and the experimental group (24) student. And then the researcher applied the mathematical communication study on the experimental group, whereas the control group was studied in the usual wa,  this study need two tools:
1- Post-achievment test, to measure student achievement after completing the teaching unit of geometry and measurement
2- Motivation scale toward learning mathematics, to measure student motivation toward learning mathematics after using mathematical communication strategyon in teaching.
It was presented to a group of arbitrators, Cronbach's Alpha for post-achievment test was (0.838), whereas Cronbach's Alpha for motivation scale toward learning mathematics was (0.771).
After the application of the study, the researcher applied the post achievement-test and the motivation of the students of the experimental and control groups.
The researcher extracted the statistical mean  and the standard deviationsof the signs of the experimental and control groups, and used the statistical package of social sciences to reach the results.
The study found that there are statistically significant differences between the average scores of the experimental and control groups in the post-test to acquire mathematical concepts for the benefit of the experimental group. There are also statistically significant differences between the average scores of the experimental and control groups in the measurement of tendencies towards learning mathematics, in favor of the experimental group.
The finding of the study showed that, the researcher recommended:
1- The necessity of using the skills of the mathematical communication in mathematics as one of the effective learning methods which works to achieve many of the teaching mathematics goals.
2- Training teachers on improving the skills of the mathematical communication in various teaching stages, and using these skills in teaching.
3- Reorganize mathematics books by using the skills of the mathematical communication, and identify the relationships between the concepts in a clear way.
The committee consisted of: Dr. Suheil Salha as a main supervisor and Chairman, Dr. Ali Brakat as a second supervisor, Dr. Mohammed Dabous as an external examiner and Dr. Wajih Thaher as an internal examiner.
At the end of the session, the committee approved the success of the researcher and recommended her a Master’s degree.
